Fans were recently treated to the premiere of The Boys Season 4. The hit Amazon Prime Video series has been a success for years now, with several spin-offs and an additional fifth (and final) season greenlit. However, some viewers were upset with The Boys Season 4, specifically claiming that the series has become “woke.”
The Boys series creator Eric Kripke has now responded to these fans on social media. Many of these viewers became quite toxic with their responses, all of which were prompted by a plot point that Tomer Capone’s character Frenchie was given a male love interest.
You can see some of their tweets below which target the depiction of Frenchie as a gay character and how they feel The Boys has somehow become too “woke” compared to its earlier episodes:
Fuck even the Boys S04 has gone woke. pic.twitter.com/OigaxRzH3h

Eric Kripke’s response to all of these comments, as shared with Variety, is rather blunt. He simply tells them to find another show to watch instead.
“Anyone who wants to call the show ‘woke’ or whatever, that’s OK,” Kripke responded. “Go watch something else.”
It certainly is amusing for viewers to call the series “woke.” After all, it is a satirical series with Kripke’s politic views having been on full display since the beginning. Of course, that does seem to make the tone of the series hit that much harder for those who appreciate it for its political commentary. It’s also worth noting that Frenchie’s sexual identity was already discussed in the show’s second season:
why is everyone shocked about frenchie being queer , did you not watch season 2 ? #theboys #theboysseason4 pic.twitter.com/piqiEeBEiA

For now, fans can enjoy the fourth season of the series, and expect plenty of other new spin-offs and stories to arrive in the future. As for the flagship series, it’s going to return for a fifth season that will conclude its main storyline.
