Author Stephen King is once again praising a new horror film on Netflix. As of this writing, however, it happens to be the #1 movie on the streaming service – and thus the #1 horror movie as well. According to King, the ranking is well-deserved, as he praises the movie and calls its ending “amazing.”

Vewers around the globe are taking the time to watch the movie. King explains that social media users “convinced” him to watch the movie, expecting it not to take itself seriously, but it turns out that he was pleasantly surprised. As such, many other users are now listening to King this time around.

Here’s what Stephen King shared about the Netflix horror film on X:

“I thought UNDER PARIS would be a jokey movie, like SHARKNADO, but Twitter convinced me to give it a watch, and it’s really quite good. The last 25 minutes were amazing.”

Of course, viewers shouldn’t step into the film expecting something akin to Steven Spielberg’s Jaws. However, the movie does offer a more serious take on the shark attack genre – one that also isn’t afraid to break some boundaries and surprise its audience. It’s a nice blend, then, of the intensity of those older shark movies and the more extravagant nature of their successors.

Perhaps it’s not a surprise, then, that Under Paris has managed to become the number one horror movie on Netflix. Hopefully more viewers give the film a watch and it can convince filmmakers and studios that there is absolutely a market for shark movies that still try to be serious in a genre with so many parodies.

Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for further updates regarding the latest trending titles on Netflix and what Stephen King may have to say about them. For now, Netflix subscribers can check out Under Paris for themselves on the streaming service and see if it’s worth the praise.
