Netflix has just released another new film for their subscribers. However, the new movie – titled Hit Man – is receiving some criticism on social media. Specifically, viewers of the new Netflix movie Hit Man from director Richard Linklater have pointed out one problem in particular that seems to stand out.
The film did receive a small limited release in theaters before being distributed on Netflix’s streaming service. Though it’s been quite popular during both distribution phases, there is one issue that fans have pointed out on social media.
The film, which also stars Glen Powell and Adria Arjona, revolves around Powell’s character Gary Johnson who happens to be an undercover police contractor. Throughout the movie, he eventually discovers that he can also pose as a hitman, and it’s something that changes the way his character is perceived in the movie.
His role as an undercover police contractor is to act as a professor of psychology and philosophy at the University of New Orleans. As he begins to become a hitman, however, his students begin to notice the professor quite differently. One even asks:
“Excuse me, when did our professor get hot?”
Now, as shared on social media, viewers are finding it hard to believe. It’s not because Powell himself isn’t attractive or charismatic enough, however, but quite the opposite. They find it difficult to believe that he wouldn’t already be considered charming prior to his transition into a hitman:
HIT MAN is a pleasant enough time passer but it never really works because you buy Powell as a suave hitman but not as a nerd pretending to be a suave hitman.

Just started Hit Man and I already have a problem with this movie. There’s no way they want me to think that Glenn Powell isn’t a Cool Guy.

Hit Man is a good film but they’re not fooling anyone with the idea that clearly very good-looking Glen Powell is regarded as a dorky loser by his students (wow, you gave him a pair of glasses, he still looks like Glen Powell!)

The most unrealistic part of Hit Man is when someone comments that Glen Powell has a forgettable face.

It’s an interesting premise for the Netflix movie Hit Man, and while some viewers feel he was miscast because they simply think Powell is already too hot, that certainly can’t be a bad thing for other viewers of the film. Ultimately, given the critical acclaim it’s already receiving, it seems to be worth the complaints from those who can’t buy into Powell’s character.
