Actor Kevin Spacey has faced a number of sexual abuse allegations, and consequently, found himself involved in a number of legal trials to defend himself against them. Now Kevin Spacey has revealed that he owes “many millions” in legal fees as a result, and he’s even in the process of losing his house.
As shared in an interview with “Piers Morgan Uncensored,” via Variety, Spacey had some rather serious things to say about his financial and living situations. His former Baltimore house is being foreclosed, and as such, he no longer has a permanent home.
Here’s what he shared when asked where he lives:
“It’s funny you ask that question because this week, where I have been living in Baltimore is being foreclosed on. My house is being sold at auction, so I have to go back to Baltimore and put my things in storage,” Spacey said. “So the answer to that question is, I’m not sure where I am going to live now. But I’ve been in Baltimore since we started shooting ‘House of Cards‘ there. I moved there in 2012. This [house] has been my home since 2016. I can’t pay the bills that I owe.”
Now fully in tears, Spacey admits that he’s still managed to just barely dodge bankruptcy:
“There’s been a couple of times when I thought I was going to file but we’ve managed to dodge it, at least as of today.”
Spacey adds that he has “none” of his money left, and explained the debt that he’s found himself facing:
“You have some sense of legal bills. I still owe a lot…Yes [I am in debt]. It’s considerable. Many millions. The house itself is many millions.”
Spacey also commented on his former relationship with Netflix, since the streaming service fired him from the production of House of Cards due to sexual assault allegations listing inappropriate behavior on the show’s set:
“We had a really remarkable relationship and there’s no doubt that ‘House of Cards really put them on the map,” Spacey told Morgan about his firing. “Even though they made the decision they made, which I think was a strange decision.. it was a wrong decision. It was wrong for them as a company. It put them in a position where then anyone who was accused of anything they had to respond in a similar way. It does seem with Dave Chappelle that Ted Sarandos has learned to be supportive of controversial individuals…I do wish he’d done that with me.”
He adds that he hasn’t heard from his House of Cards co-star Robin Wright that continued to lead the series by herself after Spacey was fired:
“I haven’t heard from Robin since September or October 2017,” he said. “I understand. I do. I think by distancing herself from me it allowed her to not have to answer a lot of questions.”
In the time since the allegations against Spacey began, around 2017, he continued to deny them. He was found “not guilty” in trials held in both the United States and the United Kingdom. Other charges and lawsuits have also been dropped in recent years. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Kevin Spacey and his developing situations as we have them.
