Quite a few modern fan-favorite shows had their start at The CW. The network gave audiences a number of fan-favorite shows that include the likes of Charmed, Supernatural, and Riverdale. Sadly, it’s been officially announced that The CW made the decision to cancel a different fan-favorite series that didn’t quite have the opportunity to last anywhere near as long as those mentioned.
As such, fans can consider the show complete with only four seasons. It’s always disappointing when a series has to be canceled prematurely. Especially when it means that it might not have a proper ending.
Nevertheless, as shared via THR, the network was quite happy with the show overall and their partnership with its star.
Here’s what the outlet shared:
“We want to thank the entire cast, crew, writers, directors and producers of Walker for their hard work and dedication over four incredible seasons,” the network stated. “We also want to give a special thanks to star and executive producer Jared Padalecki, who has been a member of The CW family for over 20 years and was integral to some of the biggest hits on the network.”
An additional statement was shared by series star Jared Padalecki, who stated on Instagram that it was a tough announcement made by The CW:
“Howdy y’all.
It is with a heavy heart that I share this news with you. #Walker will not be airing on #CW for a fifth season. It’s a tough piece of news to be sure, but we are SO thankful for the #WalkerFamily that has been built, both on set and off. After four seasons together, we have felt the love and support from the entire #WalkerFamily, and we will be forever grateful. Too often, we get to be the ones receiving the praise and gratitude and flattery and, all too often, we miss the opportunity to put it back where it belongs…
WITH THE FANS!”
His statement continues:
“In this world, home isn’t a ‘place’; it’s a relationship. ‘Places’ can be lost. ‘Relationships’ can live forever. Our gratitude and love for the entire #WalkerFamily will live forever. It has been a unique honor to be a part of the cast and crew (and fandom!) that helped #Walker tell the stories that we told. I will forever smile on the years I got to spend with the cast and crew and studio and network and fandom that made this all possible.
Til we ride again. 🤠❤️”

Ultimately, it’s bittersweet knowing that the series had an opportunity to last for four seasons on the network. Though it isn’t much compared so some of the other properties that ran for years on The CW, it’s quite an accomplishment for fans of Walker and its 1990s predecessor, Walker, Texas Ranger.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding shows on The CW and the career of actor Jared Padalecki as we have them. He previously teased a return to his other CW series that also came to an end in recent years, Supernatural, so perhaps this gives an opportunity for that to happen.
