The Marvel Cinematic Universe has been growing to include all sorts of new characters in recent years. On that same coin, it’s been working to incorporate a Multiverse, one where all MCU characters could reappear as variants. This also allows familiar fan-favorite actors from other continuities to make their own appearances in the MCU. As such, it may be exciting to know that one beloved Marvel actor is currently rumored to make their own MCU return.
The interesting thing about this particular actor, is that their superhero counterpart has already been teased in the MCU. This counterpart is being played by an all-new actor. For the original to return from another continuity, then, is just another example of how MCU plans on using the Multiverse to bring more continuity and shared characters to their mega-franchise.
Of course, this rumor should be taken with a grain of salt. Especially when this has yet to be announced by Marvel Studios. Though it certainly wouldn’t be the first time that the studio decided to bring back characters from other Marvel franchises, so perhaps this actor very well could make a return to the MCU.
What we do currently know is that the studio plans to introduce their own version of the vampire hunter Blade with actor Mahershala Ali. The actor has been attached to portray the character in a reboot of the iconic Wesley Snipes trilogy for quite some time. Now, however, the aforementioned rumor suggests that Wesley Snipes himself could also be playing Blade in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
It’s so far been kept under wraps whether or not Wesley Snipes would be one of these actors. According to Daniel Richtman, however, the insider claims that Wesley Snipes will be reprising his half-human, half-vampire role in the MCU and that he’s “already signed to do some stuff there.”
Additionally, there’s no information regarding which project he could be appearing in. The aforementioned Deadpool & Wolverine could be a likely candidate, especially given its place in the Multiverse and the knowledge that various characters from non-MCU properties will be appearing. Otherwise, Wesley Snipes could very easily portray Blade in the upcoming event film Avengers: Secret Wars.
As we’ve seen with films including Spider-Man: No Way Home, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, and the upcoming Deadpool & Wolverine, this isn’t much of a stretch. The MCU has largely centered itself around the Multiverse as of late, and that means reintroducing actors and their respective Marvel characters through all-new stories.
The actor has certainly made comments in the past about reprising his role. Of course, given the status of Mahershala Ali playing the MCU’s Blade, it’s been unclear how exactly that would work. At a time when a MCU Spider-Man film gave us appearances from not just Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, however, but also the versions played by Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield – it’s certainly possible.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the Marvel Cinematic Universe and the possibility that Wesley Snipes will reprise his role as Blade in the blockbuster franchise as we have them.
