The Final Destination film franchise saw the release of five installments from 2000 to 2011. It’s been thirteen years since the fifth film, Final Destination 5, was released. Now more than a decade later, it’s been revealed that Final Destination: Bloodlines AKA Final Destination 6 has officially started production.
A sixth Final Destination film has been discussed numerous times over the years. Of course, that hasn’t made things any easier for fans who were already prepared for another blood-soaked installment. Nevertheless, the project is finally happening, so fans can rest assured that the franchise is back.
As you can see below, the film’s producer, Craig Perry, shared several exciting details for the film including a photo from the set. According to Perry, the film’s release is being planned to coincide with the 25th anniversary of the original Final Destination. This will include an IMAX release.
“After a long, hard slog through the pandemic and the strikes, Day One is finally in the can,” Perry reveals.
“2025 will mark the 25th anniversary of the release of the first installment in the franchise. To honor the occasion with another worldwide theatrical release (in IMAX, no less) is a rare and wonderful thing.
I’m wholly grateful for the opportunity, and humbly appreciate the sublimely talented team that has worked so hard to bring this to life.
See you next year!”
Perry also noted that the title does have similarities to Pet Sematary: Bloodlines, but this was chosen several years ago, and they’re not going to change the name – “for now,” at least.
“PS: I know, I know — Pet Sematary: Bloodlines. But this is the title we’ve had for three years, and we’re keeping it… for now.”
