Coming from the official Alien Anthology Twitter account, a new behind-the-scenes photo has been released revealing actor Danny McBride receiving direction from Ridley Scott; the director behind Alien, Prometheus, and of course Alien: Covenant.
Although McBride’s role is still unknown, we do get a nice look at the set for the film and it’s clear that the movie is taking a lot of cues from the 1970s aesthetic of the original Alien as opposed to the shiny, glossy look of Prometheus:

The film will also boast the return of Noomi Rapace as Elizabeth Shaw, one of the surviving characters from Prometheus. It was previously thought she wouldn’t return, but it turns out she does play a role in Alien: Covenant.
The plot is as follows:
Set as the second chapter in a prequel trilogy that began with Prometheus, Alien: Covenant connects directly to Ridley Scott’s 1979 seminal work of science fiction. It begins with the colony ship Covenant, bound for a remote planet on the far side of the galaxy. There, the crew discovers what they think is an uncharted paradise, but is actually a dark, dangerous world — whose sole inhabitant is the “synthetic” David, survivor of the doomed Prometheus expedition.
Alien: Covenant hits theaters on August 4, 2017.
