Previously, we reported on some set pics from Spider-Man: Homecoming. While it didn’t show much, it did reveal Tom Holland, Zendaya, and another, unknown cast member.
Now, more set pics have surfaced. Though, not much is going on in this either, the thing to take away from this is the shirt Holland’s Peter Parker is wearing.
The shirt sports the logo for his high school. While the comics just called the school Midtown High, his shirt reads “Midtown School of Science and Technology.” The Amazing Spider-Man called it Midtown Science High School. And the animated series, Spectacular Spider-Man called it M3, which stands for Midtown Manhattan Magnet.
Now, I grew up in the rural Midwest, where most of the high schools are just named after the town. But evidently, in the bigger cities, there are high schools that focus on talents and specialties. I sure would have liked to go to a school that focused on English or Art. But since Peter is a science wiz, it makes sense that he would go somewhere that focuses on Science and Technology. Let’s just hope Tony Stark isn’t a guest speaker.
Screenwriters John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein said that they were looking to John Hughes for inspiration. The late filmmaker was known for his high school movies, such as The Breakfast Club and Ferris Bueller’s Day Off. Their choice to focus on Spidey’s school days is a good one, since his inception, via Stan Lee and Steve Ditko, was for a teenage superhero who wasn’t a sidekick.
