The Halo television series on Paramount Plus has become a rather divisive endeavor. In fact, Halo star Pablo Schreiber recently agreed with one criticism against the series, and that’s that he participated in a sex scene as his character Master Chief. As for another criticism, however, he has a message for fans that disagree about the Master Chief helmet coming off.
The video game franchise on which the television series is based, Halo, revolves mostly around Master Chief. One of the character’s most iconic traits is that he never takes off his helmet, or at the very least, players never see his face.
Now that the television series takes a rather different route, however, with viewers seeing Master Chief unmasked and without his helmet quite frequently, there have been some rather upset fans. As shared with SFX Magazine, however, Pablo Schreiber has a very specific message for those Halo viewers.
“People who don’t feel the helmet was necessary to come off, they’re at such an early conception of what the show could be,” Schreiber said.
“In order to examine the discrepancy between these two versions of the character [Chief and John-117], you can’t tell that story without taking the helmet off. If you don’t agree with the helmet coming off in the show, you don’t like our show. So, there’s no point discussing it.”
Interestingly, he does feel as though the first season had plenty of issues nonetheless, and that the second season will be superior in that regard. As such, we’ll have to see if viewers will have more positive things to say once the Halo series continues. Unfortunately for those displeased by the thought, it does look like they’ll have to deal with seeing an unmasked Master Chief again.
