With her performances in X and its prequel Pearl, Mia Goth has become a recognized figure in the genre. Now it looks like an alleged incident on the set of MaXXXine, the follow-up to the aforementioned horror films, has Goth facing some shocking accusations in a new lawsuit.
As shared by Variety, “a background actor sued Mia Goth on Friday, alleging that she intentionally kicked him in the head during a scene last April.” This is certainly a surprising allegation.
“James Hunter claims that he suffered a concussion after Goth kicked him during production on the A24 sequel ‘MaXXXine,'” the publication continues.
“In the lawsuit, Hunter states that he was hired for three days of work to play the role of ‘Dead Parishioner.’ On the first night of shooting, he lay on the ground for several hours covered in fake blood, ‘enduring ants and mosquitoes.'”
The scene in which he participated was described as follows:
“Goth was to run past him, and sometimes step over him, look down and keep running.”
It was the fourth take, however, that set off the alleged incident.
“The suit alleges that on the fourth take, Goth nearly stepped on him. Hunter complained to the second assistant director and the concern was relayed to Goth.”
It was the fifth take for this scene during production on the A24 film, then, that Goth allegedly kicked the background actor’s head:
“On the next take, according to the suit, Goth deliberately kicked him in the head with her boot. After the scene was completed, Hunter alleges that he was in the bathroom when Goth came in and ‘taunted, mocked and belittled’ him, daring him to do anything about it.”
The suit adds that “Hunter felt pain in his head. The fake blood had also dried onto his robe, causing him pain when he removed it.”
“On the drive home, he felt lightheaded and had to pull over twice. The next day, the casting agency informed him that the production did not want him back for the remaining two days, according to the suit.”
As a result, “the suit accuses Goth of battery and also includes a wrongful termination claim against A24, Goth and West.”
We’ll have to see how this lawsuit situation with Mia Goth develops. MaXXXine is a highly-anticipated outing for Goth, who has certainly become a popular name throughout the last few years. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them.
