Star Wars fans were delighted when The Book of Boba Fett was first announced. The titular character would finally get his chance to shine. Of course, the actual reception of the series was quite mixed. Now star Temuera Morrison has given a disappointing update regarding The Book of Boba Fett Season 2.
Though Morrison was uninvolved with the original trilogy, aside for dubbing Boba Fett‘s lines in subsequent editions, he’s been heavily tied to the character since the prequel trilogy. He first portrayed Jango Fett, Boba Fett’s donor, and a number of other clones that became the Republic’s army of Clone Troopers. He continued to voice Boba Fett in video game projects and, as mentioned, re-releases of the original films.
It wasn’t until The Mandalorian Season 2 that Temuera Morrison finally had the opportunity to portray Boba Fett in live-action. Fans were quite pleased with his introduction in the show. A Disney Plus spin-off of his own seemed like a no-brainer. Unfortunately, the production seems to have been quite messy, with an uneven narrative and lack of screentime for Boba as the result.
Now, as shared by Temuera Morrison in an interview with SFF Gazette, he doesn’t know what’s going on with the future of the series. Here’s what he shared:
“I don’t know what’s going on there,”he confesses.“We’re coming out of this downtime period so I think everyone is just settling back in and it all goes back to budgets and what they want to do and how much the thing costs. I really don’t know. Judging by the fans I’ve met, they all want a season two, but I don’t know what’s going to happen.”
Of course, even if this update means The Book of Boba Fett Season 2 never happens, it doesn’t mean it’s the end for Boba Fett. It’s possible that he could still show up as a supporting character in other shows or films. One can only hope that if he does, however, that they treat his character with the respect and proper writing that he deserves.
