While we wait for Marvel Studios to get their Blade MCU movie off the ground, an exciting surprise dropped at this year’s Game Awards. It was revealed by developer Arkane Lyon and publisher Bethesda that they’ve been working on a new Blade project. As you can see below, a cinematic announcement trailer was released for the new Blade video game.
Marvel described the game as a “mature, single-player, third-person game set in the heart of Paris.” Additionally, the new game looks incredibly faithful to the style of the character that we’ve come to know over the last few decades.
The official synopsis reads as follows:
“In Marvel’s Blade, Eric Brooks is the legendary Daywalker, half-man, half-vampire torn between the warm society of the living and the rushing power of the undead.”
Here’s the official announcement trailer for the upcoming video game Marvel’s Blade:
Of course, the footage doesn’t include any gameplay, so fans will have to continue waiting for further glimpses at the title to be released. For now, however, it does incorporate many of the visuals associated with previous live-action adaptations and the more recent comic books. It’ll be interesting to see how the game itself turns out – especially with the success of Marvel’s other video game projects.
Fans may recognize previous collaborations between Arkane Lyon and Bethesda, namely the hit 2012 game Dishonored. This led to the development of both Dishonored 2 and Dishonored: Death of the Outsider. Other games they’ve worked together on include Prey, Wolfenstein: Youngblood, and Deathloop.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional Marvel news as we have it and any other updates regarding Marvel’s Blade as they’re released. Between the upcoming game and the inevitable feature film, it’s an exciting time for fans of the iconic character. Let’s hope this is only the beginning of a major comeback for all things Blade.
