The Marvel Cinematic Universe, as expansive as it is with films and television shows, still struggles to introduce certain characters. After all, with so many other superheroes and supervillains to focus on, it can be difficult. Now, however, one superhero might finally be introduced in a new MCU movie.
According to a new rumor, a rather popular comic book character might be getting their very own movie in the MCU. Quite interestingly, however, the character was previously rumored to be the lead of a new Disney Plus series.
Now that Marvel Studios has been restructuring their projects for the streaming service, however, they seem to have decided on a feature film instead. This does make sense, especially with the addition of “Marvel Spotlights,” as this character is far too important to not be tied with a movie set in the core MCU.
For those unaware, this character happens to be none other than Nova. That’s right, the fan-favorite character – otherwise known as both Richard Rider and Sam Alexander in different incarnations – is set to receive their own big screen adaptation, according to Daniel Richtman via CBM.
James Gunn previously paved the way for an adaptation with Guardians of the Galaxy in 2014. This film introduced a number of the cosmic elements that the MCU uses to this day. The Nova Corps being one of the most notable elements. Of course, by the time Avengers: Infinity War rolled around, Thanos wiped out the group altogether.
Nevertheless, there’s still ample opportunity to bring Nova into the forefront of the MCU. And, if Richtman is correct, then that seems to be the plan. Of course, Marvel Studios has yet to make an official announcement. It’s also worth noting that no talent has been attached, so the project is still in its early stages.
Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the potential Nova movie as we have them.
