The long-awaited Fantastic Four movie reboot from Disney’s Marvel Studios is finally close to getting underway. It’s being reported that none other than actor Pedro Pascal is being eyed to play Reed Richards for the new Fantastic Four adaptation.
Deadline does note that the “deal is far from done,” but that “scheduling is still being worked out.” Additionally, they claim that “multiple sources close to the negotiations are saying it’s headed in the right direction for Pascal to do this and his other projects.”
That’s certainly one of the trickier aspects. After all, Pascal is one of the busier actors in Hollywood at the moment. In fact, some of his next projects include Gladiator 2 and The Last of Us Season 2. He’s also been playing the lead role in The Mandalorian, though there are some benefits to being masked in that he can work remotely via voiceover while other actors portray the physical performances.
Of course, this is only the first piece to the puzzle. Marvel Studios will next move onto finding out which actors to cast alongside Pedro Pascal in Fantastic Four if he is chosen. The cast will have to work well together in order to truly bring Marvel’s “First Family” to life on the big screen. Especially with so many fans eager to see the superhero team not only done well on the big screen, but within the context of the wider Marvel Cinematic Universe to explore.
Hopefully we’ll have more details on this soon. As for now, this is a major development, and we should learn more with the film scheduled to begin production next year. The upcoming MCU movie is set to be directed by Matt Shakman from a screenplay penned by Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer.
Fantastic Four is currently scheduled for a theatrical release on May 2, 2025. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates as we have them.
