The first Inside Out film was released by Pixar and Disney in 2015. Now, nearly a decade later, it’s finally time for Inside Out 2! Pixar has just treated fans to the first teaser trailer for the film, and excitingly enough, it introduces an all-new emotion to the cast.
Maya Hawke of Stranger Things fame joins the cast of the film. As you can see in the teaser below, it looks like there are some major changes happening now that Riley is becoming a teenager. It’s a difficult transitional period for many, and Pixar captures that by placing her mind under a major demolition. This includes throwing in the aforementioned Anxiety, who happens to be an adorably cute and awkward addition.
Of course, the other emotions don’t seem to appreciate her arrival, and it’s likely that chaos – and anxiety – will ensue. Fans will no doubt be excited to see how all of these interactions ultimately effect Riley and represent a relatable look at what becoming a teenager is all about.
Here’s the official teaser trailer for Inside Out 2 which reveals quite a few exciting details about the upcoming film:
The film’s director, Kelsey Mann, shared the following statement regarding Anxiety:
“Anxiety, voiced by Maya Hawke, might be new to the crew, but she’s not really the type to take a back seat,” said Mann. “That makes a lot of sense if you think about it in terms of what goes on inside all our minds.”
Kelsey Mann directed the film which stars Amy Poehler as Joy, Phyllis Smith as Sadness, Lewis Black as Anger, Tony Hale as Fear, and Liza Lapira as Disgust. Maya Hawke joins the cast as the all-new character Anxiety.
The Pixar film is currently scheduled to hit theaters on June 14, 2024. As the tagline suggests, it’s the “feel-everything” film of Summer 2024.
