The Marvel Cinematic Universe is tied together with numerous films and shows that consistently reference and build up one another. One of the most popular ways of doing this has been the MCU’s post-credits scenes. Now it looks like The Marvels will have one such post-credits scene – and it’s leaked online.
Fans have been increasingly hesitant about the release of The Marvels. In fact, the film has the lowest ticket pre-sales for any MCU installment. Nevertheless, it looks like the film has been released early in overseas territories, and that means some viewers have spilled the beans.
Now the post-credits scene for The Marvels has surfaced on several major social media platforms. It’s not exactly difficult to stumble across, but if you hope to avoid spoilers, then be warned:
The post-credits scene for the film is a major moment for the MCU. It not only sets up a number of future storylines, but it includes a special treat for fans of Fox’s X-Men franchise in particular. Specifically because none other than Kelsey Grammer’s Beast returns.
He greets Monica Rambeau who sacrifices herself at the end of the film. However, rather than dying, she ends up in an alternate universe. It could very well be the Earth-838 we’ve already seen from Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. Especially because we know the X-Men characters already exist in that world as well.
Either way, she’s understandably confused, and even sees a version of her mother Maria Rambeau next to her. Interestingly, it seems to imply that Maria became Captain Marvel in this universe rather than Brie Larson‘s Carol Danvers. As such, we’ll have to see what this means for the franchise going forward. But things are certainly getting interesting.
The Marvels was directed by Candyman director Nia DaCosta from a script written by Megan McDonnell.
Fans will finally be able to see the follow-up to Captain Marvel and the Disney Plus series Ms. Marvel when it hits theaters on November 10, 2023.
