Some were speculating that Tom Welling would return to play Superman on Supergirl – but that’s not the case, as a new actor has been cast in the iconic role.

Tyler Hoechlin has been cast as Clark Kent/Superman on CW’s Supergirl. Some of you may know him from the show Teen Wolf among other roles. Here’s what executive producer Andrew Kreisberg had to say:

“Greg [Berlanti] and I have wanted to work with Tyler for ages, so this worked out perfectly because Tyler is Superman,” Kreisberg said. “We are so thrilled and humbled to add another amazing actor to the legacy of this iconic character.”

To those who were holding out hope that Welling would return to the role, it looks like that chapter appears to be closed for good. I know that some were hoping for Dean Cain to return to the role. Actually, no one was hoping for that. Well, maybe someone? No, probably not.
