Marvel is known for redesigning and recreating different superheroes over time. Now Marvel has announced their latest reinvention of a beloved character. And, as fans can see below, it’s quite an unexpected change for fans.
Robert Reynolds is known for having been Marvel’s Sentry across quite the comic book saga. Of course, his character is now dead, but the Sentry mantle will apparently live on. It looks like Marvel has introduced as many as three new diverse characters to become the universe’s new Sentry.
The new Marvel series, which initially begins with fan-favorite character Jessica Jones and Misty Knight, comes from writer Jason Loo and artist Luigi Zagaria. Here’s what Loo had to share regarding the story and how it kicks off Marvel’s new Sentry plot as shared by their official website:
“This entire series is a mystery where we follow Jessica Jones and Misty Knight as they figure out these catastrophic accidents caused by random strangers with the Sentry’s powers. You’re going to witness a bunch of origin stories, like Mallory Gibbs, a writer for Front Line news who lives with cerebral palsy. Farhad Anand is a mutant keeping a low profile as a DoorDish bicycle courier. And Ryan Topper, a teenage fanboy who gets to live his dream of becoming a super hero. And there are a few more further into the story. But the real question is….how are they all connected to Robert Reynolds?”
Here are the designs for the new Sentry characters:

It appears that these different characters, seemingly without connections to one another, begin to manifest Bob Reynolds’ powers and even portions of his memories. And, excitingly enough, not all of them appear to be using these powers for good. It’s an interesting way to reinvent Reynolds’ superhero identity and carry on his legacy.
Fans will be able to dig into the new story when Sentry #1 is released on December 6. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Marvel updates, including the MCU and those regarding Sentry, as we have them.
