A wide number of characters are known for having played Spider-Man. These actors include Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield, and Tom Holland. Now, however, Stranger Things star Joe Keery has become the latest Spider-Man with a newly-surfaced photo.
Keery has famously played Steve Harrington in all four seasons of Netflix‘s Stranger Things. It’s a role that he’s set to reprise for the show’s upcoming fifth and final season. Of course, fans are eager to see what roles Keery could tackle next, and many have been hoping for an MCU appearance.
The Marvel Cinematic Universe has recently opened up the possibilities of the Multiverse. This means that fans can see all sorts of variants belonging to their favorite characters and superheroes. Characters like Tom Holland’s Spider-Man have already encountered variants played by the aforementioned Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home. Now artist clements.ink on Instagram has imagined Joe Keery as an all-new Spider-Man variant.

The artist notes that he envisioned the character “with a bit more of a classic look and a pop funko mask on.” Users commented on the post to celebrate the look, while others were more critical, adding that Keery would look a little too much “like a funko pop in that suit.”
Nevertheless, everyone seemed to be supportive of the artwork and seeing Keery as the iconic superhero. Though it’s unlikely to see Tom Holland officially replaced at this time, Keery would certainly be a great choice to tackle the role at some point in the future.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Joe Keery and the Marvel Cinematic Universe as we have them. Although the two are not officially connected at the moment, fans are no doubt hopeful that Keery can acquire a spot in the fan-favorite superhero franchise. Especially once his role in Stranger Things comes to an end.
