This year’s debut weekend of E3 gave us our first look at some of the gameplay for the first official Friday the 13th video game since 1989!
The gameplay video lasted about four minutes and showed off some of the mechanics in Gun Media’s upcoming Friday the 13th: The Game. Although the game isn’t entirely finished, it still looks very promising for fans of the franchise. Check it out below:
It seems that players controlling Jason Voorhees will have the ability to get perks which will allow them to teleport around the map and potentially see certain areas where other players could be hiding. Players will also have Jason’s mother speak as a sort of guide when looking for other players to hunt down.
And as you can see there’s also a lot of cool details, like moths swirling around lampposts, old cabin interiors, and radios with 1980s rock and roll!
The game is also currently having extra features (including new characters and maps) funded through a “slasherbacker” that you can support if interested.
It’s definitely going to be something big for fans of the iconic horror franchise, as it doesn’t look like we’ll actually be getting another film adaptation any time soon. Here’s hoping we do eventually get one, but that it’s better than the 2009 version. Here’s also hoping that the game lives up to the high expectations we all have for it.
Friday the 13th: The Game hits PC, PS4, and Xbox One in October 2016.
