The upcoming Marvel movie Deadpool 3 is set to tie the MCU and Fox’s X-Men film franchise together. The movie already stars Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and Hugh Jackman’s Wolverine. Though fans are expecting a wide number of other X-Men characters to appear – and it looks like this group of characters could include a familiar villain from the original movie.
As shared by the Deadpool Updates account on X, formerly known as Twitter, insider Daniel Richtman shared a rumor regarding the highly-anticipated sequel. As mentioned, it suggests that a familiar villain could be appearing in the film. Specifically the character Toad, first played by Ray Park in the original X-Men movie from 2000.
It’s worth noting that, if true, this would make it the third appearance for Toad in a live-action film. He made his second appearance in X-Men: Days of Future Past when Evan Jonigkeit played a younger version of the character.
Here’s the tweet shared by the Deadpool Updates X account regarding the possible inclusion of Toad in the film:

Of course, it’ll likely be some time before we know if this rumor is true or not. But we can certainly expect plenty of cameos and special appearances to make their way in this film. including rumors about celebrities like Taylor Swift making an appearance. As such, perhaps Toad will appear, though we’ll just have to wait and see. Hopefully more concrete details are released soon. Especially once production on the highly-anticipated blockbuster resumes.
Deadpool 3 was previously scheduled for a release date on May 3, 2024. Though the film appears to have since been removed from Disney‘s release schedule. This seems to be due to the WGA and SAG-AFTRA strikes that delayed production. As such, we’ll have to see where this puts the film once the SAG-AFTRA strike is settled.
