Gal Gadot is well-known for her role as the DC character Wonder Woman in the DCEU film of the same name and its follow-up, Wonder Woman 1984. As such, fans have wondered whether or not Gal Gadot would return for the DCU.
The DCU, otherwise known as the DC Universe, is a new shared universe of DC adaptations led by DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran. The franchise is set to kick off with Superman: Legacy in 2025. And despite backlash, Superman: Legacy is also set to introduce a new version of Superman played by David Corenswet rather than Henry Cavill. It was expected then that other DCEU stars would also be replaced, but according to one insider, that might not be the case with Gal Gadot.
As shared via @MyTimeToShineH on X, formerly known as Twitter, “Gal Gadot will be back as Wonder Woman for James Gunn’s DCU.” They note that this goes against “reports saying otherwise,” as it seemed likely that Gal Gadot would be replaced by a new actor much like Cavill was.

Though some fans would no doubt be ecstatic to have Gal Gadot back as Wonder Woman for the DCU, there would no doubt be backlash from those who similarly want to see Henry Cavill return. As such, any details beyond what’s been officially confirmed should be taken with a grain of salt. There are clearly a few rough patches that need to be crossed before we fully know what Gunn and Safran have planned with the DCU. But if it includes old DCEU stars in addition to newcomers – it’ll certainly be interesting to see how it all pans out.
Fans can currently expect to see the DCU launch when Superman: Legacy hits theaters on July 11, 2025. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional DC updates as we have them.
