It’s been long rumored that Hugh Jackman’s final Wolverine film would be an adaption of Mark Millar’s Fan-favorite story arc ‘Old Man Logan’. But a new report has seemingly revealed that this will not be the case.
The Twitter Page, @XMenMovies, has recently learnt that 20th Century Fox has registered two new names which could very well be the title for the upcoming film. The names in question are Wolverine: Weapon X and simply, Weapon X. Given the characters cameo in Fox’s last entry in the franchise, X-Men: Apocalypse this title seems entirely plausible.
Next #Wolverine is titled WOLVERINE: WEAPON X or simply WEAPON X for short. Fox has registered the titles. #XMen

If true, this is likely to disappoint many fans who were hoping to see the 2008 story on the big screen, although given how the rights to many of the story’s key characters are currently being held by Disney, such as Hulk, Hawkeye, Red Skull and Spider-Man, the chances of this happening were always slim to none.
Filming for the untitled sequel is currently underway in New Orleans, where both Hugh Jackman and Patrick Stewart have been spotted filming scenes although they don’t offer up too many clues for what to expect.
With SDCC just around the corner, it’s likely we’ll start to see some official details emerge in the coming months. Wolverine claws his way into theatres for the final time March 2nd 2017.
What do you think? Do you like these titles? What are you expecting to see in the film? Let us know below!
