Christian Bale’s iteration of Batman is one of the most beloved takes on the character. As such, it’d be expected that fans would love to have a new toy based on his version. Unfortunately, it looks like a brand-new toy based on Christian Bale‘s Batman is receiving backlash online.
The toy, which is being released via Hot Toys, was shared by the official Batman account on X, formerly known as Twitter. It seems as though the colors of the character’s suit are receiving the largest amount of criticism. Fans have pointed out that the color scheme just doesn’t fit in with the design worn by Christian Bale in Christopher Nolan‘s movie trilogy.

Here are some of the tweets shared in response to the toy:
What on earth is this design

How’d they make a bad costume look even worse

These colors would probably fit the Batman Begins costume a lot better

It’s a cool idea but this colour scheme really isn’t a good fit for the Nolan outfits

It’s worth noting that the figure has a $290 USD price tag. So, despite coming with a number of extra accessories, it’s understandable that fans are being critical with a price that high. Perhaps Hot Toys simply wanted to use Christian Bale’s likeness with a more classic color scheme from older interpretations of the DC character. But it’s clear that fans just aren’t going to have it.
The official description for the Hot Toys figure via the Sideshow website mentions the following features:
“Sophisticatedly crafted based on Batman’s appearance in comics, the highly-detailed figure features a Batman cowled head with interchangeable lower faces and separate rolling eyeballs system; a greatly poseable body portrays Batman’s strong and muscular form; a Batsuit that highlights its metallic blue and matte grey color scheme with a finely tailored fabric cape; signature bat gadgets including EMP rifle with LED light-up function, sticky bomb gun, grapnel gun, batarangs, mini mines. The figure even includes swarm of bats, a bat-emblem-inspired diorama accessory and a staged figure base for dramatic setup.”
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Batman updates as we have them. It’s unfortunate that the toy didn’t hit the mark with fans, but it goes to show just how passionate they are about Christian Bale’s take on the character. Hopefully the studios involved can do a better job at keeping fans happy and adhering to the styles established within Christopher Nolan’s films.
