Stephen King is doing it again, bringing attention to a lesser-known horror movie on social media. The horror author, who has penned such classics as Carrie, The Shining, and Pet Sematary, is pointing out “a real creepshow,” which is high praise considering he also wrote the screenplay for 1982’s Creepshow.
The tweet was made in response to a user asking for recommendations. The X user, hoping to find independent horror movies that only show a portion of a large-scale event, brought up several examples of such films. One such example included Pontypool, which caught the attention of Stephen King.
As you can see below, King shared the following reaction in response to the tweet:
“PONTYPOOL! Now there’s a real creepshow,” King exclaimed.

Fans clearly agreed with King’s take on the film. As of this writing, his tweet has reached over 1,500 likes, with many responses from fans agreeing that Pontypool is a great movie. The movie was first released in 2008, and in the nearly two decades since, it has amassed quite a cult following. So while plenty of horror fans might’ve already seen the film, which does have a tendency to pop up on streaming services from time to time, it’s never too late for others to give it a watch. Or, even if you are familiar, it might be the perfect opportunity to give it another go.
As always, Stephen King loves to share his appreciation for the genre. He often gives a shoutout to titles that deserve it. So for fans of horror, Pontypool is definitely worth a watch, based on the novel Pontypool Changes Everything by Tony Burgess.
