The Spider-Man film franchise has introduced various characters and continuities over the years. In fact, Sony still has plans for several other spin-offs coming in the near future. One such Spider-Man spin-off, however, has reportedly been canceled.
This news might not be too surprising, of course, as it was previously reported that the film was removed from Sony’s schedule altogether. Nevertheless, it was reported by insider @MyTimeToShineH on X that Sony has decided to scrap their El Muerto movie.
Here’s what was shared about the reportedly cancelled Spider-Man spin-off:

The film was previously set to have Bad Bunny attached to star. However, due to the actor’s schedule, it appears that he was no longer available. Now with the ongoing SAG-AFTRA and WGA strikes, it looks like Sony had no other choice but to pull the plug on the film.
As mentioned, though, this is far from Sony’s only Spider-Man spin-off in the works. Fans will soon have the releases of both Kraven the Hunter and Madame Web. Then there will be an additional animated Spider-Verse film and several other television shows on top of that. Furthermore, there’s also Tom Holland’s fourth Spider-Man film, which is expected to continue his story following the events of Spider-Man: No Way Home.
The other Spider-Man spin-offs that have been revealed so far include Venom and its sequel, Venom: Let There Be Carnage, with a third film starring Tom Hardy on the way. There’s also been the film Morbius with Jared Leto, although that film has been much more negatively received in comparison and it’s unknown how that particular story will continue.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Sony, Spider-Man, and other Marvel updates as we have them. Although El Muerto has been cancelled, we will still see quite a few other Spider-Man films and spin-offs in the near future.
