Comic book films and superhero movies are something that’s been in surplus for today’s moviegoers. It seems like every month for the last few years there’s either been a new movie released or a new one announced to be released, and with the dozens of these movies now out there, it comes to no surprise that people would want to know Stan Lee’s favorite of the bunch.
Stan Lee is one of the biggest forces in the comic book world, having created some of its most iconic characters and helping turn Marvel Comics into what it is today.
So, just what is his favorite Marvel adaptation?
“The first one that was such a hit, the first Spider-Man.”
Spider-Man was released in 2002 and directed by Sam Raimi, who before working with the popular web-slinger, helmed low-budget films like The Evil Dead. And when Spider-Man earned $821,708,551 worldwide, it cemented Sam Raimi as one of Hollywood’s biggest directors.
Stan Lee continued to speak about Spider-Man, saying that,
“After that [Spider-Man], everything else seemed easy.”
That makes sense, given that Spider-Man was one of the first popular Marvel comic book adaptations which would eventually lead into 2008’s Iron Man, the first film in Marvel’s Cinematic Universe. Stan Lee was also one of the creators for Spider-Man way back in the 1960s, so it makes sense that he’d have such a strong appreciation for the film.
Currently, however, Spider-Man has now been rebooted to fit into Marvel’s Cinematic Universe and we can expect Spider-Man’s first solo-film in 2017, Spider-Man: Homecoming.
