Barbie has been a box office hit. Fans and critics are both praising the newly-released blockbuster starring Margot Robbie. Unfortunately, some Barbie screenings have had unfortunate circumstances, and now a fight has broken out in one theater.
The fight occurred between two women during a screening of the movie held in Brazil. As you can see below, a clip of the event has gone viral online. Apparently the women began their fight because one of the women allowed her daughter to watch YouTube throughout the film.
It appears that the fight first began with a heated conversation. Soon enough, a woman comes up to shove another one into the seats behind her. It’s then that a man comes in between the two to try and break up the fight.
Here’s the clip that has been circulating online:

Of course, while fighting should be avoided at all costs, there were some users that began discussing the limits of theater etiquette. Many users understandably emphasized that phones should be kept off or otherwise silent during screenings. Especially when they, in addition to the others around them, paid to see the film. Here are some of those responses:
People should really understand that watching mobile during a movie that you paid to watch can cause disturbance and divert attention so that is why it is always advised to switch it off or keep it on silent…

i mean that’s pretty selfish like why go to a movie just for ur kid to be bothering the other people in the theatre

Hopefully this is the last time such a fight will have to break out over Barbie. Of course, there have been other such scuffles in theatrical screenings before, including a recent screening of The Little Mermaid. Perhaps it’s no surprise why some moviegoers do tend to prefer streaming films at home.
Barbie was directed by Greta Gerwig, who also co-wrote the film’s script with her partner Noah Baumbach.
In addition to Margot Robbie as the titular Barbie and Ryan Gosling as Ken, the film’s ensemble cast also includes Kate McKinnon, Alexandra Shipp, America Ferrera, Simu Liu, Hari Nef, and Will Ferrell.
Fans can currently see Barbie in theaters. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the film as we have them.
