As the Spider-Man film franchise continues to grow, it seems as though there are no limits to the possibilities. Now one of the franchise’s actors has opened up about some very interesting Spider-Man 4 rumors. According to his claims, Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire could be up for Spider-Man 4.
Thomas Haden Church has played the villain Sandman in both Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man 3 and the more recent Spider-Man: No Way Home. As such, he’s tied to the franchise both old and new, and he’d also want to stay involved for a potential Spider-Man 4 with Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire.
He noted as much while speaking with ComicBook.com, adding the following about having heard rumors:
“There’s always been some kind of…I’ve heard rumors…that Sam Raimi was going to do another [Spider-Man movie] with Tobey [Maguire] and if that happens, I would probably campaign to maybe at least do a cameo,” Church states.
It’s worth noting that there is no official Spider-Man 4 on the table. At least, not one with Sam Raimi and Tobey Maguire. As of this writing, Marvel Studios and Sony seem dedicated to Tom Holland‘s Spider-Man 4 which will once again be set in the Marvel Cinematic Universe. There are also plenty of other spin-offs on the way, including Kraven the Hunter, Madame Web, and Venom 3.
So who knows? There could always be room for Tobey Maguire himself to make a cameo in one of these Marvel projects. Especially if Spider-Man: No Way Home was any indication of what is possible.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional Spider-Man news as we have it. Of course, even if Spider-Man 4 were to be announced, it would probably still be several years away. As such, we’ll have to see what happens. But it certainly wouldn’t be surprising if some kind of discussions were happening behind-the-scenes. Especially since Church claims to be hearing rumors.
