Actor Tom Holland is set to star in the upcoming Apple TV Plus television series The Crowded Room. The series will deal with some heavy subject matter, and it seems the shoot was so brutal, that Spider-Man star Tom Holland has announced he’ll be taking a year off acting.
This was revealed by Holland while speaking with Extra about his work on the series. As he notes, “it was a tough time, for sure.”
He continued:
“We were exploring certain emotions that I have definitely never experienced before. And then on top of that, being a producer, dealing with the day-to-day problems that come with any film set, just added that extra level of pressure.”
Holland notes that he “loved the learning curve of becoming a producer,” but that this particular project went a little too far. As such, he will be taking a year off to recuperate. Here’s what Holland had to share about that:
“I’m no stranger to hard work,” Holland said. “I’ve lived by the idea that hard work is good work. Then again, the show did break me. There did come a time where I needed a break and disappeared and went to Mexico for a week and had time on a beach and laid low. I’m now taking a year off, and that is a result of how difficult this show was. I am excited to see how it turns out. I feel like our hard work wasn’t in vain.”
The cast of the series, in addition to Tom Holland, features Amanda Seyfried, Sasha Lane, Will Chase, Lior Raz, Laila Robins, Christopher Abbott, and Henry Eikenberry.
Fans will be able to see The Crowded Room when it premieres via Apple TV Plus on June 9, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding Holland as we have them.
