In the post-credits of Thor: The Dark World, Volstagg and Sif brought the Aether to The Collector. In that scene, we learned that the teleporting smoke from Malekith the Dark Elf was an Infinity Stone. This was also used to set up Guardians of the Galaxy, as Benicio Del Toro’s Collector made his next appearance in the space opera.
Well, it looks like we might see some more character-swapping. Just like most franchise filmmakers nowadays, James Gunn of the Guardians franchise likes to tease with social media. The latest of these teases is of him holding Mjolnir, Thor’s hammer, on his Facebook:
The caption reads, “Getting ready to hang a painting.” Below, in the comments, when asked if this indeed was a tease if Thor will pop up in his sequel, Gunn responded, “I’m holding it simply because the props guy had it on set. I have no reason why.” Which sounds like a whole lot of sarcasm to me.
One commenter, Paul Tran, brought up an interesting theory of his own, “The GOTG could be in Thor: Ragnarok. How about that?” The post-credits scene with Sif and Volstagg was directed by Gunn, after all.
What do you think? Will Thor pop up in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2? Or does Gunn really need to hang a painting? Find out if either, the Guardians will be in Thor: Ragnarok on November 3rd, 2017, or if Thor will be in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 2 earlier next year on May 5th.
Maybe Thor will be in the GOTG2 post-credits.
