One of the most popular properties in the ongoing Lord of the Rings franchise is The Lord of the Rings Online. Now it’s been revealed that The Lord of the Rings Online developer Standing Stone Games has added a facial hair option for women in the game.
The update was listed in the Release Notes for Update 35.1. This comes with the game’s 16th anniversary, and as mentioned in the notes, it is part of “celebrating the uniqueness of every player!”
Here’s what Standing Stone Games had to say about adding the facial hair features for women in The Lord of the Rings Online:
“Our latest update celebrates individuality with additional character customization options for the Race of Men (humans) that let players express themselves in new ways,” developer Standing Stone Games begins. “We want to make as many players feel represented in the game as possible, and we are introducing new character creation options for your face, hair, and body!”
The post continues:
“We know there is more work to do to offer a wider variety of character creation options, and we will be following up this release with additional options in the future.”
And, while existing characters will be “mostly unchanged” except for updated textures, they add the following:
“There are now more shared options between genders, including hair and beard styles where applicable.”
The Release Notes also state that “body proportion range has been increased” with these options being available for existing characters via the Barber. Now players have numerous options to choose from regarding both male and female characters in The Lord of the Rings Online.
Of course, there is some backlash for adding facial hair features for women in The Lord of the Rings Online. Nevertheless, it’s clear that these features are here to stay, and we’ll just have to see what else Standing Stone Games has planned for the fantasy adventure title.
