TVLine reports that Season 5 of Arrow will “introduce the recurring role of a cocksure/reckless ex-Marine”.

I sure hope this is someone from the comics. If it is, who could it be? I know I’m still holding out for Green Lantern. He has been teased enough. Hal Jordan, the second GL, the one we’re most familiar with, was a test pilot. Remember in one of the initial episodes of Season 4, we saw Jordan’s name on somebody’s flight jacket.

Jordan may not be an ex-Marine. But there was a GL who was a Marine. Enter the fourth Green Lantern: John Stewart. Many clamored for John Diggle to reveal himself as John Stewart. That was before he was turned into Spartan.

Some may think that the effects for such a character would be too much for TV. But I think, that what the Arrowverse has already proved that what they can do with The Flash, they can do the same for Green Lantern.

Also in the report, showrunner Wendy Mericle says that, with Oliver’s newest gig as mayor will factor into the show. “City Hall, that institution, is crucial to our series.”

Furthermore, she says:

“It’s a very good possibility that we’ll finally find out how he got that Bratva tattoo and how he learned to speak Russian……When Oliver says, ‘No one can know my secret’ and he kills that guy in the pilot, we’re going to get some insight into that.”
