Casting is currently underway on the new Fantastic Four film. And, while an official announcement has yet to be made, a rumor claims that the new Human Torch actor has already been chosen.
We’ve already have several reports regarding Marvel Studios and what actors they’ve been eyeing for Fantastic Four. But, according to insider Daniel Richtman, the latest potential actor for the Human Torch has just been offered the role by Marvel.
Of course, this information should still be taken with a grain of salt. But Richtman has delivered valid scoops in the past. And, given that the film’s cast has to be chosen sooner rather than later at this point, it does seem like a strong possibility.
As for the actor – it’s none other than Paul Mescal who has been approached to play Johnny Storm aka the Human Torch. Fans will know Oscar and Emmy-nominated actor Paul Mescal from his work on Aftersun and Normal People. He’s also attached to star in Ridley Scott’s upcoming sequel to Gladiator.
He would certainly make a great acquisition for the beloved superhero team, then, though we’ll have to wait for an official announcement from Marvel to know for certain. As mentioned, though, many rumors and reports are beginning to surface on the Fantastic Four film. Production on the film is expected to be underway somewhat soon, especially if it’s to reach its early 2025 release date. Hopefully then we’ll have more concrete information available in the near future. Until then, take the rumor about Paul Mescal being cast with a grain of salt.
Matt Shankman will direct Fantastic Four while Jeff Kaplan and Ian Springer write the screenplay.
The new Fantastic Four iteration is currently scheduled to hit theaters on February 14, 2025. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates on the highly-anticipated MCU project as we have them.
