Man of Action Entertainment, Dentsu Entertainment, and DHX Media have released new details for their upcoming Mega Man animated series, which is being produced to coincide with the Mega Man game’s 30th anniversary.
Their new details include the first reveal of the title character’s design and the revelation that the series will follow an average robot named Aki Light who possesses the power to become Mega Man, “the world’s first robot super-hero.”
The press release adds:
“If you’re an 80s or 90s kid, you may remember an animated series about the fighting robot (sing it with me now: Mega Man!) that ran for two seasons during the mid-90s. It was a fresh, and unique, if not sometimes silly, take on Mega Man, and one that a lot of people (including myself) remember fondly. The new animated Mega Man series will follow Aki Light – a normal, upbeat, and above all optimistic young school-aged robot living in Silicon City. He soon learns that deep within his programming are secret protocols that allow him to transform – giving him nanocore armor, a Mega Buster, and the iconic helmet to turn him into a superhero – Mega Man!”
The series will be set in Silicon City and will follow Aki Light as he balances his normal life with his life as Mega Man and the responsibilities that come with being a hero.
The series will also contain familiar supporting characters like Mega Man’s robotic dog Rush, and new characters like Mega Mini.
Man of Action promises the series will provide the “unflinching wide-eyed optimism” and “over-the-top sense of humor” that the character has become known for, while still targeting a new elementary school demographic.
