Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein has received countless horror film adaptations over the years. Now filmmaker Guillermo del Toro is said to have an adaptation of Frankenstein in the works. Additionally, it looks like there are some exciting cast members in talks to star.
As shared via Deadline, it looks like Mia Goth, Oscar Isaac, and Andrew Garfield have all entered early talks to star in the film. The project is also said to be happening at Netflix.
Here’s what else they had to say about the project at this time:
“Insiders close to the pic caution that del Toro is still working on the script and no formal offers have given to any actors. But sources add that he has has met with all three, and each is on board to star.”
As such, it looks like we’ll have to see how this situation develops. For now, however, it looks quite promising for fans of the three actors. Although their roles are unknown, it’s “believed Goth would be playing the doctor’s love interest.” With her incredible performances in the likes of X and Pearl, an adaptation of Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein would certainly be quite the follow-up. Especially by working with Guillermo del Toro on the project.
Other details for the project are scarce. It’s unknown if this would be a period film or something set in modern-day. Additionally, it’s unknown who will be playing the book’s iconic doctor or their equally-iconic creation. Hopefully we’ll have more news soon as progress on the film continues.
