Avengers: Age of Ultron included the destruction of the titular villain. Though it looks like Ultron might appear in a new Marvel Cinematic Universe movie. This would mark his second return following the Disney Plus series What If…? if the rumor is true.
The rumor, shared during the Tales from the Mod Queue in the Marvel Studios Spoilers subreddit, claims that James Spader will reprise his Ultron role for a very interesting project. One that could even include Ultron as the main villain as well.
The movie is none other than Armor Wars. The project is expected to include Don Cheadle and heavily tie into Tony Stark’s legacy. As such, having a villain like Ultron – who was created by Tony Stark – would make perfect sense. Though it’s not exactly clear how he could make this potential return.
The villain was thought to have been destroyed in Avengers: Age of Ultron when Vision destroyed the final Ultron robot. Though it’s possible that remnants of the villain’s programming were left intact. So if Tony’s technology falls into the wrong hands during Armor Wars – it could be enough to reactivate Ultron’s AI.
Hopefully we’ll have more details regarding this project and the potential return of Ultron soon. The film has been in development for quite some time – and it was initially going to be released as a Disney Plus series. Fans are certainly eager to have Don Cheadle’s beloved Marvel character make a comeback for the project. So now with the possibility that he’ll be going up against Ultron – fans will no doubt be even more excited to see Armor Wars.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates regarding the upcoming movie Armor Wars and the potential involvement of Ultron as we have them. As of this writing, Marvel Studios has yet to comment on the rumor nor have they announced a release date for the film.
