Sony has been busy with a number of Spider-Man spin-offs following the success of Venom and Venom: Let There Be Carnage. As such, fans are eager for a third film featuring the beloved anti-hero. Now star Tom Hardy has confirmed that Venom 3 has officially entered pre-production.
This is exciting news for fans of the franchise. Especially given that the last time we saw Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock was during the post-credits sequence for Spider-Man: No Way Home. As for the pre-production announcement, Tom Hardy made the reveal in a caption for a new Instagram post. The short video he posted features a behind-the-scenes look at a previous Venom film – though the caption did state the following:
“Whilst working on V3 pre prep … this throwback came up.”

This indicates that Venom 3 has already been in the midst of pre-production. Furthermore, one can assume that the actual production could likely happen at some point this year. Hopefully we’ll have a confirmation on that in the near future.
As for the plot of Venom 3, it’s unknown what the film could include at this point. It’s already been confirmed that the Venom continuity exists in the same “Multiverse” as the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Though it’s unknown if a potential crossover with Tom Holland’s Spider-Man could be in the cards or not.
In fact, with Sony working on other projects such as Kraven the Hunter or the previously-released Morbius, we could very easily see Tom Hardy’s Eddie Brock meet up with one of these characters instead. We’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
Kelly Marcel is set to direct after having penned the film’s script. The screenplay is based on a story she co-wrote with star Tom Hardy.
Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional Venom 3 updates as we have them. For now, however, it’s nice to see that Venom 3 is finally moving ahead. Hopefully there will be more news to report soon.
