Karl Urban Gives New Details About His Role In THOR: RAGNAROK

    By Allen D. LyonsMay 26, 2016

“I read a fantastic script that was action-packed and full of great characters,” Karl Urban told Scott Collura with IGN.

He was talking about the script for Thor: Ragnarok. It has been announced that the Dredd actor will play bad guy, Skurge the Executioner.

“When I heard who was involved — and the cast list dropped yesterday — and [saw] the opportunity to work with [director] Taika Waititi, who I think is one of the most brilliant directors coming through, I made the decision it was something that I wanted to be a part of. And the character is fantastic. He’s got a great arc to him. Obviously I can’t say too much about it, but I’m really thrilled to be a part of the Marvel universe and to be working on Thor: Ragnarok.”

Urban will join Jeff Goldlum as Grandmaster Cate Blanchett as Hela, and Tessa Thompson as Valkyrie. And of course, we know Mark Ruffalo’s Hulk will co-star.

    The Marvel Encyclopedia says:

Skurge was the son of an Asgardian goddess and a Storm Giant. Turning against his father’s people, he killed many giants at war, earning the nickname ‘the Executioner.’ He fell under the ENCHANTRESS’s spell, serving her in attempts to dominated Earth and Asgard.

If Skurge is present, then I hope Enchantress is not far behind. You just can’t have one without the other. Wonder who’ll play her.

Karl Urban has graced the screens as Judge Dredd, and Dr. Bones in the Star Trek reboots. It’ll be great to see him in the MCU. I’m sure he’ll give Skurge the character he needs.

Hulk and Thor will smash their way through the cosmos on November 3, 2017.  Surter is said to also give them hell. And I’m still crossing my fingers for Beta Ray Bill.
