It’s sadly been revealed that actor and stuntman George P. Wilbur has died at age 81. Many horror fans will remember his contributions to the Halloween film franchise.
Specifically, George P. Wilbur is one of the few actors to have played the franchise’s main antagonist, Michael Myers, in more than one film. He played the character in the fan-favorite entry Halloween 4: The Return of Michael Myers and later returned for Halloween 6: The Curse of Michael Myers. He also performed as a stunt player in Halloween 5: The Revenge of Michael Myers.
In fact, it’s his work in these films that has many fans believing his version of Michael Myers is the best. As one of the most iconic actors to have ever portrayed the character, his work will no doubt always have an impact on the franchise and character. Especially even several decades later and with so many other iterations having been created. Now that says a lot about his work.

Of course, Wilbur’s career as both an actor and stuntman spans countless other iconic films and franchises. His other work includes Planet of the Apes, Grizzly, Escape from New York, Poltergeist, Ghostbusters, Re-Animator, The Monster Squad, The ‘Burbs, The Exorcist III, The Silence of the Lambs, and Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man. This is only a fraction of his incredible filmography. With work as a stunt man, stunt double, and stunt coordinator, the importance of his career is clear.
As always, it’s quite sad to learn that such an icon for not just the horror genre – but film in general – has passed away. But many viewers will no doubt be remembering his efforts for years to come. With so many classic films under his belt, George P. Wilbur will certainly be missed but never forgotten.
George P. Wilbur is survived by Gena Wilbur, his daughter.
