There are a few movie trailers but mainly a lot of TV show trailers that were released. The nostalgia is strong with this one. So go forth and relive your days of “on the edge TV watching” like you did in high school or in college. Enjoy.
Lethal Weapon
They’re back! Well, sort of. It is not a 5th movie with Mel Gibson and Danny Glover. Being that their last movie in the franchise came out nearly 20 years ago, they’re a bit old to reprise their roles anyway. It’s a reboot as a television series on the FOX network, set to release this fall. So if Glover and Gibson are not reprising their roles, who is set to take their place and how well do they fill their shoes?
The answer? Damon Wayans plays Roger Murtaugh and Clayne Crawford play Martin Riggs, and it looks awesome. As a comedian, Wayans has proven his ability to be funny, but also has a great capacity for the more serious moments in a story. He is a great match, and one of the biggest reasons I am excited for this to release. In the clip, Crawford demonstrates that he is able to show emotion on huge scale in one part, but be completely nonchalant and indifferent in another. This type of stark contrast with added comedic value is definitely up my alley. Watch this. I definitely will.

Trainspotting 2 Teaser
1996 was the last time we saw the cast of Trainspotting in all their drug fuel glory and it’s time they come back in our lives. Danny Boyle has been promising a sequel to the cult classic for over a decade, but couldn’t find the right time. It looks like he finally has.
The teaser doesn’t show us any new footage but instead, reminds the audience of Renton and his boys, and the madness that was this film. Ewan McGregor narrates the clip with the start of his famous “Choose Life” speech but changes it up to reflect that time has gone by and the mindset of Renton may have changed. It would be great to see our boys again after Renton walked out with that bag of cash.

Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows
I miss the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtle cartoons I grew up with. The film that released in 2014 made me miss them more. It was an awful movie. The previous trailer for Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles: Out of the Shadows that was released didn’t go far in proving that it this new film would be any better. After watching this final clip, I am slightly more optimistic. But just slightly.
The plot still isn’t revealed all that well in the trailer. I had to do a bit of reading on the internet for that. It’s definitely a continuation of the film that came out in 2014. Vernon Fenwick (Arnett) is still looking to take over the city, but this time, he has mutants of his own. With the added characters and a more prominent plot, this movie might be a little better than originally thought. I am still not too excited for it, but I might take my kids to see it. Who knows? I might be pleasantly surprised.

24 Legacy
The show 24 is back, just minus Kiefer Southerland, but that’s okay. In place of hero is Straight Outta Compton’s Corey Hawkins and he looks primed to save the day. CTU is still up and running and terrorists are still trying to bring down America.
The new season/series looks to be filled with the classic action packed hour by hour espionage thrill that has been known from the series. The gimmick of 24 was that the show was 24 episodes that coincided with the 24 hour a day clock, but this take will instead consist of 12 episode hopefully allowing for the show’s plot to be much more tighter. Let’s just hope Corey Hawkins won’t have the habit of just screaming at everyone like Jack Bauer.

The BFG
It’s a Disney movie. And it’s directed by Steven Spielberg. Need I say more? I’m sure you are curious as to what the movie is about, so I will say more. But you know it’s going to be magical. That much is certain.
The BFG. It’s the nickname Sophie (Barnhill) gives the big friendly giant who befriends her. She meets him and is immediately intimidated by his stature. He makes jokes about being a child-chewer, but Sophie finds out that those are just stories. They soon grow close and go on some adventures, with the giant needing Sophie’s companionship and Sophie relying on his protection. He is certainly not the typical giant. He catches dreams. The scenery and magic throughout the clip caught my attention, and I am sure it will capture yours and any little ones you decide to take with you to see it.

The Exorcist
It looks like Fox might be getting into the horror genre for TV shows and they decided to go with The Exorcist. The trailer tries to add more to the mystery of the demon possession and puts a modern take on the story. Geena Davis takes the role of the mother and it seems like it has been ages since we saw her.
The classic film is still the only movie to this day that scares the shit out of me but this show kind of looks like a cheap imitation. I know it’s for television, but the gore of the original wasn’t what terrified me. It was the idea of what was not seen and the idea of everything horrible happening all at once, only having it too late to turn away. Now that, is true horror.

The Purge: Election Year
The most recent trailer released for this film hooked me. There is a lot of noise out there as far as trailers are concerned, and I find it annoying when they’re released but don’t really show what the film is going to be about. It’s different with this one.
Senator Charlene Roan (Mitchell) is running for President and is in the lead due to her vow to be rid of the purge. Her family was killed 15 years earlier, so this matter is very important to her. The government secretly opposes her views on it, however, and target her during the purge. The government sees it as good thing, which is made obvious by its public service announcements. Full of action and suspense, it looks like it will be a great summer thriller. It’s been awhile since I’ve been to see a movie like this, so I will definitely make a point of watching this one in theater before it comes out on DVD.
