A recent slew of reports suggest that DC Studios will be heavily altering their brand. In fact, they’ve claimed that Wonder Woman 3 among other such DCU films have been outright canceled. Now Black Adam actor Dwayne Johnson claims these DC reports are “all noise.”
He said as much while responding to a fan on Twitter. The fan wrote that this is “only the beginning,” and that “despite all of the noise & negativity,” they emphasize that they still “can’t wait to see what’s next.” But Dwayne Johnson was able to say that the recent reports aren’t necessarily true.
Here’s the DC-related Twitter post shared by Dwayne Johnson:
That’s it brotha, you already know.
It’s all noise 👊🏾🥃— Dwayne Johnson (@TheRock) December 8, 2022
This is certainly a good sign for those hoping that Dwayne Johnson will stick around as Black Adam in the DCU. Although the newly-released Black Adam film is said to be something of a box office failure given its massive budget, that doesn’t mean we won’t get to see more of the titular character.
It all depends on how DC Studios co-heads James Gunn and Peter Safran decide to plan the future of DC. They’re currently in the process of developing a new plan that will last the next ten years. As such, various franchises and titles will be repurposed, canceled, and outright replaced by other properties to keep the brand going. It’s very much possible that Black Adam could be a victim of these changes – or that it could help pave the way for a new series of films featuring Dwayne Johnson.
Fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates regarding the DCU as we have them. As for now, it’s certainly clear that change is coming – we just don’t exactly know what those changes will be yet. In the meantime, fans can still see Dwayne Johnson in Black Adam which is currently playing in theaters.
