The DCU is entering a new era with the release of Black Adam. The new film teased an exciting new reappearance with its post-credits scene, where fans witnessed the return of Henry Cavill as Superman. Fans immediately became anxious to see how Henry Cavill’s role as the beloved superhero would be handled with upcoming installments. And, while we wait on that front, it turns out that Black Adam almost featured another exciting post-credits scene as well. This deleted Black Adam post-credits scene would have actually involved the future of Doctor Fate in the DCU.
According to The Direct, the deleted post-credits scene from Black Adam “would have teased the future of Doctor Fate in the DCU.” As they’ve described, “the brief scrapped sequence takes place during the day in a sandy location. The opening shot slowly pans up from the ground to reveal Doctor Fate’s helmet sitting atop the sand.” At this point, a mystery figure grabs the helmet, albeit without being revealed.
It’s unclear whether or not this scene would have played before or after the Superman moment. But it would have definitely been included as a second sequence. As for why it was removed, that also remains unclear. In any case, it seems more than likely that DC has more plans for Doctor Fate at some point in the future.
Jaume Collet-Serra directed the film from a screenplay by Adam Sztykiel, Rory Haines, and Sohrab Noshirvani.
Dwayne Johnson stars in the film as the titular character. The cast also includes Noah Centineo as Atom Smasher, Aldis Hodge as Hawkman, Sarah Shahi as Adrianna Tomaz, Quintessa Swindell as Cyclone, and Pierce Brosnan as Doctor Fate. Marwan Kenzari, James Cusati-Moyer, Bodhi Sabongui, Mo Amer, and Uli Latukefu also appear in the film.
Fans are finally able to see Dwayne Johnson’s take on Black Adam on the big screen. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding the film as we have them.
