Fans have been eagerly awaiting the next iteration of the Evil Dead film franchise. Although there was the fan-favorite television series Ash vs Evil Dead which aired between 2015 and 2018, the most recent film installment debuted in 2013. As such, it’s been nearly a decade since the Evil Dead name was last unleashed into theaters. Now in an effort to promote the next entry, Evil Dead Rise, director Lee Cronin shared the first look at the upcoming reboot.
As you can see below, it’s a quite a horrifying reveal. Fans can clearly see a bloodied deadite looking quite mischievous and, well, outright evil. The design appears to be more reminiscent of the deadites featured in the 2013 movie. Furthermore, fans will notice the shot appears to be coming through a peephole of some kind. With the film being set in a high-rise apartment complex, this just shows how much the setting will be used to its full potential.
Here’s the first look at Evil Dead Rise as shared by director Lee Cronin:
Happy Halloween dear horror hounds of the world! Here is the first look at my new movie, coming exclusively to theatres on April 21st 2023. #EvilDeadRise is gonna make your eyes bleed. pic.twitter.com/xIR7mrQf39

This new image was shared just in time for the Halloween season. Of course, one must hope that this means a trailer won’t be too far behind now. There’s just less than six months until the film is set to be released, and with it hitting theaters, it seems likely a trailer will hit sooner than later. Fans will have to keep their eyes peeled.
Lee Cronin directed the film while original Evil Dead veterans Sam Raimi, Bruce Campbell, and Robert Tapert produced the film.
The film’s cast includes Alyssa Sutherland and Lily Sullivan, as well as Gabrielle Echols, Morgan Davies, Mia Challis, and Nell Fisher.
Fans can currently expect Evil Dead Rise to be released exclusively in theaters early next year on April 21, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates as we have them. For now, this new image is a fantastically scary glimpse at what’s to come.
