Although Secret Invasion won’t be premiering until next year, we’ve already had quite a few glimpses at the Disney Plus series. In fact, many of these glimpses were given when the show first started production. Fans got a good look at Emilia Clarke on the set of the series, even though her MCU character was not revealed. Fans have since speculated who she could be playing as a result. Now, apparently because of an accident, it looks like the Secret Invasion character that Emilia Clarke will be playing has been revealed.
As noted via OneTakeNews, who happened to locate the file name of a Secret Invasion GIF on Tenor. The GIF features a quick moment where Emilia Clarke states, “It’s the beginning.” The file, however, reveals just a bit more information than that. It happens to be titled “Its The Beginning Abigail Brand GIF.”
The name Abigail Brand reveals plenty about Emilia Clarke’s character. For starters, she’s known for being the commanding officer of S.W.O.R.D. in the comics. Fans will recognize S.W.O.R.D. as an offshoot of S.H.I.E.L.D. which aims to protect earth from extraterrestrial threats. With the Secret Invasion series including the Skrull alien race, it certainly makes sense that they’d be involved. As for the X-Men connection, in the comics she’s known to have inherited the X-Gene from her human mother. As for her father, he was an extraterrestrial and as such she was born on the planet Axus.
It’s unclear if they’ll keep these origins the same for her appearance in the Disney Plus series. But with the X-Men slowly being included with the MCU, it seems very possible that the Emilia Clarke version of the character could be a mutant in Secret Invasion. As such, we’ll just have to wait and see what happens.
The cast of the upcoming Secret Invasion series includes Samuel L. Jackson as Nick Fury. Ben Mendelsohn will play the Skrull character Talos. Cobie Smulders will reprise their role as Maria Hill. Martin Freeman will portray Everett K. Ross with Don Cheadle playing James “Rhodey” Rhodes aka War Machine. The cast for the show also includes Kingsley Ben-Adir, Olivia Colman, Emilia Clarke, Killian Scott, Christopher McDonald, and Carmen Ejogo.
The highly-anticipated Disney Plus series is currently scheduled to drop on the streaming service sometime in 2023.
