Although Halloween will soon come to pass, the Netflix streaming service still has plenty of horror-themed surprises in store for genre fans. For example, they’ve unveiled a new teaser trailer for the upcoming horror film The Pale Blue Eye. The new movie comes from Scott Cooper, director of Antlers, and it stars Christian Bale along with Harry Melling as none other than Edgar Allan Poe.
The new film is based on Louis Bayard’s 2006 novel of the same name. In the film, Christian Bale will play retired detective Augustus Landor. His character is tasked with investigating a series of harrowing murders. And, as you can see in the below teaser trailer, it looks like a particularly tense period piece. Additionally, it’ll be exciting to see actor Harry Melling of Harry Potter fame tackle the role of Edgar Allan Poe.
Here’s the teaser trailer for The Pale Blue Eye:
Hopefully we’ll have a further look at the film sooner rather than later. While the film will be premiering on Netflix in January 2023, it will also be receiving a theatrical release in select theaters. As such, it seems likely that the advertising campaign will only continue to grow from this point forward. Let’s hope that means the full trailer will be headed our way soon.
The upcoming film, written and directed by Scott Cooper and based on the novel by Louis Bayard, also stars Gillian Anderson, Lucy Boynton, Charlotte Gainsbourg, Toby Jones, Harry Lawtey, Simon McBurney, Timothy Spall, Hadley Robinson, Joey Brooks, Brennan Cook, Gideon Glick, Fred Hechinger, Matt Helm, Steven Maier, Charlie Tahan, and Robert Duvall.
The highly-anticipated horror film will be available to view in select theaters on December 23, 2022. The film will then be available to stream via Netflix on January 6, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for any additional updates regarding The Pale Blue Eye as we have them.
