The Creed film franchise, itself spun from the Rocky series of films, is headed back to theaters early next year with Creed III. Michael B. Jordan will be returning for the new entry as evident in the official Creed III trailer shared below.
The film will act as Michael B. Jordan’s directorial debut while following the events of the previous two Creed films. It’s also worth noting, however, that Sylvester Stallone will not be returning for this third outing as his character Rocky Balboa. He previously appeared as Rocky in both of the last two Creed entries in addition to all of the original Rocky movies.
Here’s the new trailer for Creed III:
It’s been revealed that the plot of this new film will focus heavily on the fight between Michael B. Jordan’s Adonis “Donnie” Creed and Jonathan Majors’ Damian. It’s worth noting that both actors have their hands in the Marvel Cinematic Universe at this point as well – so Creed 3 should make for an interesting union between the two as teased in the new trailer.
Michael B. Jordan appeared in the MCU film Black Panther while Jonathan Majors is gradually becoming the MCU’s next major villain after Thanos. Fans will get to see him as Kang the Conqueror in the upcoming film Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania. The film also stars another Marvel alumni with Florian Munteanu who previously appeared in Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings.
The upcoming film was directed by star Michael B. Jordan. The screenplay was written by Keenan Coogler and Zach Baylin from a story by Ryan Coogler, Keenan Coogler, and Zach Baylin.
In addition to Michael B. Jordan, the cast for the film also includes Tessa Thompson, Jonathan Majors, and Florian Munteanu.
Creed III will hit theaters and IMAX on March 3, 2023. Stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates as we have them.
