Amber Heard is once again attempting to appeal the trial ruling made in favor of Johnny Depp. While her legal team has attempted such moves in the past, they were all rejected and denied. Now Amber Heard and hew legal team have filed a brief listing containing 16 grounds for appeal.
This listing was revealed in documents acquired by Fox News. The grounds include such points as “clear and convincing evidence” for actual malice in addition to the court’s “failure” to invalidate damages after both Depp and Heard were founded guilty of defaming one another. As such, the appeal claims that the damages are “inherently and irreconcilably inconsistent.”
Furthermore, the appeal stated the following:
“The trial court erred in allowing Mr. Depp to argue or suggest at trial that the jury could award damages based on statements or conduct occurring prior to the publication of the challenged op-ed,” it read.
The points also claim that there was evidence used in the trial that shouldn’t have been allowed. On the other hand, the Aquaman actress believes there was evidence that should have been allowed. For example, she believes the UK ruling that went into her favor should have been used in the trial against Johnny Depp. So it does seem like there are some interesting cards up her sleeve if this appeal were to be accepted.
As mentioned above, however, this is only the latest attempt to appeal the case. Her previous appeals were rejected and so too was her attempt to have the case thrown out completely. With about $10 million she’s supposed to pay Johnny Depp, however, it’s understandable that she’d want to have the trial’s ruling reversed in any way possible. So we’ll just have to wait and see how the latest attempt from Amber Heard to appeal the ruling that went in favor of Depp will go. In the meantime, for Johnny Depp, he seems to be moving on and even changed his appearance at a recent event.
