Fans have been ecstatic to see some of the newly-announced films on the way from Marvel Studios. The new films would comprise both Phase Five and Phase Six of the Marvel Cinematic Universe. However, Marvel Studios has just made a major announcement regarding the two phases. Specifically, Marvel Studios has revealed that they’ve delayed several major MCU films.
It’s worth noting that some of the delays are more surprising than others. For example, Blade is going to be delayed, but we already knew that project lost its director. As such, that doesn’t seem too surprising. However, Marvel Studios has also delayed Deadpool 3 which only recently received its first release date. Indeed, as noted via Variety, this will certainly change up Marvel’s schedule quite a bit.
Here’s the complete list of delayed Marvel titles with their new release dates:
- Blade: September 6, 2024 (previously November 3, 2023)
- Deadpool 3: November 8, 2024 (previously September 6, 2024)
- Fantastic Four: February 14, 2025 (previously November 8, 2024)
- Untitled Marvel Movie: November 7, 2025 (previously February 14, 2025)
- Avengers: Secret Wars: May 1, 2026 (previously November 7, 2025)
In addition, Marvel Studios also removed one untitled film altogether. This particular film was initially scheduled for May 1, 2026. So, with these changes, the Marvel Cinematic Universe will have quite the altered schedule for the next few years. Because Marvel’s movies are so interconnected and dependent on one another, all it takes is one delay to upset the balance. This means Blade was likely the metaphorical domino which pushed all of the other projects behind. Hopefully this won’t be too much of a negative impact on the Marvel Cinematic Universe going forward, however, and that these new dates will allow these films more developmental time to be the best that they can be.
And, of course, there are still plenty of other Marvel projects in development. With that in mind, fans can stay tuned to ScreenGeek for additional updates as we have them.
